Lorries Pies & Woolworths Concept Store Ascot

Lorries Pies are proud to be part of the brand new Woolworths Concept store at Nudgee Road in Ascot. Last Saturday’s staff and family orientation day was the first of its type,  where staff were oriented to a store pre-opening, and invited to try products. It was a cold morning, and the pies were hot and delicious !

The Woolworth’s Marketing Manager explained that Woolworth’s are really investing in their people, with the Renewal roll-out and not just improving the building facilities. The focus is on interacting with customers and inviting them to come back again and again.

First class staff facilities upstairs include the use of Internet, computers, a beautiful view over Racecourse road, a quiet room, a lunch area and two large TVs, one broadcasting Woollies Radio.  The new Woollies “Newzine” – will be broadsheet size ( not A4) , content based, rather than the more traditional picture / price format .

The National Renewal Manager – is in charge of rolling out renewed stores and told us about the Woolworth’s Food Academy, where every team is trained, to bake the best bread, cut and present the meat and deli and so on. The Team leader is trained at Eight Mile Plains, then they train the rest of the team in-store.

This is the first 3.0 concept store in Queensland, the other is Marrickville in Sydney. This will rolled out eventually to all stores.  The store has a Cheese room, a Bakery where they will bake flat breads in front of customers, an open-top fish counter, for market feel – sprayed with salt water regularly to prevent icing up issues and an “On the plate” section – proteins are together ( chicken and red meat) next to produce to help plan meals. The store is light and airy with a high ceiling,  using lots of charcoal colors, a light lime green font and exposed stone aggregate floor.

Lorrie’s are proud to be a strong Woolworth’s Queensland provider, and will be part of the stores Grand Opening at 5pm Tuesday 31st July.
